The Indian Institute of Forest Management is a sectoral management institute, which constantly endeavors to evolve knowledge useful for the managers in the area of Forest, Environment and Natural Resources Management and allied sectors. It disseminates such knowledge in ways that promote its application by individuals and organizations. IIFM has been established with the following objectives:
  • Provide training in management and related subjects for persons from the Indian Forest Service, Forest Departments, Forest Development Corporation and Forest related industries with a view to equip them to practice the art and profession of management of forestry development.
  • Inculcate an appreciation in those selected for training, that conservation is of overriding importance in the management of living natural resources and that the primary role of forests is the vital ecological and environmental purpose they serve.
  • Select and prepare outstanding and talented young persons for careers leading to management responsibility in forestry and the forest-related system.
  • Meet the need of Indian forestry and forest-related industry and commerce in respect of upto-date information on forestry management through research, consulting and publication.
  • Assist, institute and carry out research in matters concerning the use of management and allied techniques and methods conducive to the development of forestry in the country.
  • Institute awards, scholarships, fellowships, prizes and medals in accordance with the rules and bye-laws.
  • Create patronships, affiliations & other classes of professional or honorary membership or office, as the society may consider necessary.

Admission
Admission to the fully residential two year PGDFM is open to graduates from any discipline provided he/she fulfils the eligibility criteria and qualifies through the selection process.
Eligibility
Applicants should have at least a three-year bachelor’s degree in any discipline obtained through the 10+2+3 system or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with a minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/DA) or equivalent CGPA.
Candidates appearing for the final year graduation examination are also eligible to apply provided they complete it before June 30, 2015 and fulfill the eligibility criteria as set by IIFM.
Admission Procedure
STEP-1: Common Admission Test (CAT)
All applicants desirous of seeking admission in PGDFM at IIFM have to appear for Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIMs), by responding to their notification published in leading national dailies. IIFM will use the CAT score for short-listing the candidates for calling for GD/PI. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

Have to appear for Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) conducted by XLRI, by responding to their notification published in leading national dailies. IIFM will use XAT score for short-listing the candidates for calling for GD/PI. XLRI have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.
How to Apply:
STEP-2: IIFM Application Form:
In addition to CAT or XAT, the candidate should also apply to IIFM separately through one of the following ways:-
Apply online and remit the application fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500/- for SC/ ST) through Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Netbanking.
Apply online through MPOnline authorized KIOSK Centre – only for the students from Madhya Pradesh and remit the application fee in cash.
Download the application form and send it along with Demand  Draft of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500/- for SC/ST) with all attachments by speed post.
Obtain admission bulletin and the application form personally or by post by sending a Demand Draft of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500 for SC/ST) in favour of Director, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal
Application complete in all respect including the CAT or XAT or both (if applicable) registration number should reach IIFM Bhopal on or before 2nd February 2015.
STEP-3: Group Discussion/Interview:
Candidates shortlisted on the basis of CAT/XAT score, will be called for Group discussion and Interview at Bhopal, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata based on the choice of candidates, as mentioned in the Application Form. However, IIFM reserves the right on the allotment of choice of centre to the candidates.
Reservation
As per Government of India requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates. For Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the ‘non-creamy ‘layer (NC-OBC) 27% of the seats are reserved. As per the provision under section 39 of the PWD Act, 1995 , 3% of the seats are reserved for Persons with Disability (PWD)/Differently Abled (DA) candidates. The three categories of disability are:- (a) low-vision/blindness, (b) Hearing impairment, and (c) locomotors disability/cerebral palsy. This provision is applicable if a candidate suffers from any of the listed disabilities to the extent of not less than 40% as certified by a Medical Authority as prescribed and explained in the said Act.
The candidates belonging to categories for which seats are reserved need to note and read the eligibility requirements carefully before applying. It should be noted that while it is the endeavor of IIFM that the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PWD(DA)/Non – Creamy OBC categories join the programme in proportions mandated by the law, they have to meet the minimum eligibility criteria and a certain minimum level of performance in the admission process.
Scholarship to SC students
IIFM is recognized as an Institute of Excellence under the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of Top Class Education for Scheduled Castes (SC) Students offered by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. This scholarship (total 4) is available to SC category students at IIFM subject to fulfillment of the conditions laid down by the Ministry. The scholarship will cover expenditure of full-fee and lodging boarding charges, books and stationary charges at a fixed rate. A laptop for eligible candidates will also be provided during their study at IIFM.
Scholarship to ST students
IIFM is also recognized as an Institute of Excellence under the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of Top Class Education for Scheduled Tribes (ST) Students offered by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. Five scholarships are available to ST category students at IIFM subject to fulfillment of the conditions laid down by the Ministry. The scholarship will cover expenditure of full- fee, lodging and boarding charges, books and stationary charges at a fixed rate. A laptop for eligible candidates will also be provided during their study at IIFM.
The Performance linked merit scholarship scheme
This scholarship scheme has been envisaged to create and maintain a competitive spirit among students, to encourage them to progressively perform well in each term. Approximately 20% of the batch will be awarded a merit scholarship of Rs. 5000/- per month from the end of the First Term. After the first term results are declared, the Institute will prepare a merit list of eligible students based on recommendation of the PFM Committee.

Other Important Information
Providing inaccurate or incomplete information or malpractice of any kind or canvassing will result in disqualification of the candidate.
The PGDFM bulletin will be dispatched to the candidates after receiving their application along with the required application fee. IIFM will not be responsible for any postal delay or loss. If a candidate, after having made a request to IIFM with the requisite money, does not receive the bulletin, she/he may enquire about it through email, phone, and Fax.
Please note that admission under any category is subject to meeting the selection criteria as specified by IIFM. In case of any dispute, the jurisdiction will be the competent Court of Bhopal only.
